This is the only zone in Jim Corbett where tourists can walk on foot but richly housed by non-venomous snakes of different kinds. Offering diversified flora and fauna, Sitavani zone is the bird-watchers’ paradise. Popular mammals in the region are tiger, leopards and elephants.

There is a temple of Sita among the dense forest which is believed to be the place where Sita – the wife of lord Rama – incarnation of lord Vishnu in Treta Yuga, Sita being the incarnation of goddess Laxmi, brought up her twin sons Luv and Kush after being abandoned from Rama who was popular for his maryada (values). Sita was abandoned when the general public of his state told she must be abandoned – Sita was kidnapped by demon king Ravana and kept under a tree (safe and untouched) for a long time during the time of ‘banbas’ as described in Ramayana.
